About
Having recently finished my PhD, I have developed a rather omnivorous interest in Theories of International Security and IR Theory. My thesis was based on an expansion of three concepts within Buzan's Regional Security Complex Theory (amity/enmity, state incoherence, great power penetration), from a Wendtian, rump-materialist angle; the framework is then applied to the post-Soviet Southern Caucasus to elucidate the interactions between these three concepts, and evaluate possibilities for change. It is scheduled for publication with Palgrave in late 2012. My next project, in co-operation with Jorge Lasmar and Laust Schouenborg, aims to introduce the regional level into the English School and map regional variations within the primary institutions of international society. Periferal interests include issues connected to nuclear deterrence/proliferation, and the regional politics of the former Soviet Union and the Middle East. I am currently also module leader for 1INR511 International Security Studies at the University of Westminster.
